2.  Last week, we learned how monopolies work…now let's see them in action during the Industrial Revolution.  Monopoly Men Activity (pg. 11).  Research and summarize with 3 bullet points for each guy:
  • What industry did they monopolize?
  • How did he create a monopoly?
  • How big was their monopoly?

Fri. 10/23 Class Agenda

1.  Bellringer:  Read "What is a Corporation" on pg. 16 of your reading packet.  Answer the following:  What is a corporation?  How can corporations raise $?  Apply our lesson on perspective...
2.  Monopoly Tiered Activity (TA= tiered activity packet)...Day 2.  Do quiz on pg. 4 of TA (no peeking!).  Grade quiz as a class (don't change your answers!)...then go on to page 5 and follow the directions based on your quiz score.
3.  10 WEEK EXTRA CREDIT:  Imagine that you are SMALL business owner living during the Industrial Revolution.  Your business (and consumers) has been negatively impacted by rise of "robber barons" and their monopolies of this era.  Using ALL of the vocabulary words on pg. 1(TA), write a letter to your Senators (Frank Hiscock & William M. Evarts) explaining reasons why they should support the Sherman Anti-Trust Act (1890).  Do this assignment on a separate sheet of paper.  Highlight or underline the vocabulary in your letter.  Be creative…and have fun!
