Class Agenda 12/6

1.  Bellringer:  Is there a short-cut that you take to get someplace?  Why do you use that route?
2.  Introduce the Panama Canal as a premier "short-cut."  Complete graphic organizer on pg. 23 while reading pgs. 16-22.  Follow up with discussion of how the canal works (click "Transit" and "Operation".....and a look at a live webcam
3.  Review Activity (pg. 24) - you'll need to know these places for the test tomorrow!
4.  Start Test Prep:  Study Guide (pg.25) and Vocabulary pages

1.  Bellringer:  Ever call "dibs" on something?  "Shotgun?"  Compare to Open Door Policy.  Discuss ethnocentrism and how it impacted Chinese history in the 20th century.
2.  Do you know anyone that is "old-fashioned" or not "with" the times?  Examples?  Compare this concept to Japan (& China) during the era of American Imperialism...The US in Japan.
