3.  Group Activity on appeasement (pgs. 14-15).  What is the similarity between the "father & daughter dilemma," and appeasement with Hitler?

• Enrichment Clip:  "Appeasement & Anschluss"  How did appeasement apply to Italy as well?  How did the League of Nations react to the Italian invasion of Ethiopia?  Was Mussolini similar to the "daughter in the mall" from our story?

1.  Bellringer:  Test your knowledge!  Create a "T" chart for the "Good Guys" and the "Bad Guys" of World War II...classify the following - Britain, Germany, USA, Italy, Axis Powers, Japan, Soviet Union, Allied Powers.
2.  Brain-pop:  Adolf Hitler
3.  Rise of Dictators (pg. 7-8)

• Rise of Hitler movie clip (if time)

4.  Do pg. 9-10 - use the map in your planner (or another resource)

Students will meet with their current and future guidance counselors - and begin preparing their 9th grade schedules.

1.  Bellringer:  Look at the list of careers on the board…what do each of these careers have in common?
2.  Discuss the next couple days for 8th graders:  Tomorrow will be devoted to informing students about high school, and starting the process of creating schedules for next year.
3.  Watch a portion of "Bust" episode.
