1.  Bellringer:  Why do we love to take "short-cuts?"

2.  Introduce the Panama Canal as a premier "short-cut."  Complete graphic organizer on pg. 23 while reading pgs. 16-22.  Follow up with discussion of how the canal works (click "Transit" and "Operation".....and a look at a live webcam.  Connection to today?  Controversial Nicaragua Canal project.  

3.  Review Activity (pg. 24) - you'll need to know these places for the test tomorrow!
4.  Start Test Prep:  Study Guide (pg.25) and Vocab pages
